9.1 Week 9 Overview: Chapter 4 - Elements of Narrative
This week we really begin to familiarize ourselves with narrative and narrative structure. You will learn basic concepts, screen a film and contribute to a discussion of that film with your peers. Then complete a short quiz.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of this week, you will be able to:
1)Analyze the role of the narrator and identify the four types of point of view/narration.
2)Examine how the types of narration and character types influence the spectator and film experience.
3)Continue an examination narrative structure (the classical paradigm) and duration.
4)Learn to differentiate between plot and story and describe diegetic and non-diegetic elements

Hello everyone,
In looking through the modules I was reminded how dense the week 9 is. In a live 18 week offering the we would cover this chapter in two weeks. Therefore, I am opening the module early. Don't feel you need to dive in, just know it's there.
In considering this module, the chapter and the quiz, I have decided that for this chapter you should have two attempts at the quiz. And, as a reminder and due to the stress of online learning when many of you would chose to take at least a portion of your classes live, I do discard your lowest quiz score in final calculations. As a further reminder, if you are missing a quiz go back and submit it that way it will not default as the lowest score.
