Hello all,
I know I promised a video, but it's just too loud here. Anyway, hope you're all doing well. I am loving the first week's meet and greet discussion - the diversity of experiences and goals. Thank you for sharing. I think I will need to ask my live students, next time I teach live, to participate in a Canvas introductions sections. At the moment I am trying to respond to each and everyone of you. If I don't please know there are 40 of you and 1 of me and the beagle is crying for a walk.
This week we will screen our first film and begin our first discussion of the film based on the reading. I look forward to reading your work. In the past we have screened Casablanca first and as an example of Hollywood Classicism - Classic Hollywood cinema, but we have time for that. We shall screen The Last Black Man in San Francisco (2019, 120 min) Joe Talbot. I look forward to our discussion.
Before I forget, I have posted an extra credit assignment that should open shortly called DAPPS. I post it now because it could help with scheduling and goals. I know many students have very full lives; DAPPS can help you think about how you approach and accomplish your goals.
Til soon.....I will try to do a midweek update.
I almost forgot, a couple of last reminders:
Return to the discussions several times a week and specifically at the end of the week to read comments you may not have previously seen which you may find helpful, or a study aid.
Further, if anyone wants to engage in a "live" discussion drop in on our Zoom meeting. I am thinking Thursdays at 4:00 may work for me. What works for you?
